One of the key events in St Ives at the start of the festive period is the exciting community events, the Switch-On of the Christmas Lights on Friday 3 December. With the traditional carols around the Christmas Tree starting at 6.00pm outside the St Ives Guildhall, the evening will continue with Santa’s Procession through the town. This year the event has the special theme of ‘Pirates’ and so if you wish to don a Pirate fancy dress costume, you can join Santa’s Yo Ho Ho Parade.
On Friday 10 December it’s time to ‘Jingle All the Way’. Santa will have a host of ‘reindeer’ helpers in his jingling procession winding through the streets of St Ives. Children are welcome to join in - bring reindeer horns or jingle if you have them!
Traders, businesses and people from the local community have got together to arrange a variety of community events and late night shopping, so keep an eye on the local press for further details.
Saturday 18 December will be the last Saturday before Christmas. To bring a really festive flavour to the town, there will be music, choirs and performers throughout the town all day to entertain, bring good cheer and a warm Christmas atmosphere.
