St Ives Town Council has launched its Citizen of the Year Award, not only for 2011 but also for the first time.
Mayor, Councillor Yvonne Watson said that she was pleased that the council have taken the initiative to recognise that there is so much valuable work carried out throughout the community by numerous dedicated individuals who each make a notable contribution to benefit others.
Written nominations can be submitted to the town council’s offices at the Guildhall by the closing date of 14 February 2011. Nomination forms are available from the Guildhall and can be downloaded from the link below.
Those nominated for the award should be residents of the town council area (i.e. Lelant, Carbis Bay, Halsetown and St Ives) and brief reasons for the nomination are requested in order to help the panel arrive at a decision on who should be awarded the title of Citizen of the Year 2011.
Outstanding citizens of the parish were previously recognised through the former Penwith District Council’s Alan Harvey Citizen of the Year Awards’ - named after a notable community figure from St Ives.
