BEACH DOG CONTROL ORDER REVIEW

The Town Council is currently working to review the suitability of the current Beach Dog Control Orders in place on Porthminster, Porthgwidden, Porthmeor and the Harbour beaches. In view of concerns raised, Bamaluz Beach will also be considered as part of the review.

All written representations will be taken into account as part of the review process - a process which will follow two stages. The first stage will be seeking views of the public and stakeholders to help determine the proposal which will form the basis of the formal public consultation.  The second stage will then be a formal notice in a local paper, notifying of the formal consultation round.  Depending on the outcome of the rounds of consultation, it it is considered to be beneficial to change the Beach Dog Control Orders, they would be changed at the end of the consultation process.

Contrary to some misleading information that has been circulated by other parties, the town council does not at this stage have a proposal with regard to banning dogs from beaches - it has committed to carry out a review to ascertain the views of beach users to help inform a decision on the best way forward.
