St Ives Town Council is carrying out a survey of the footpaths in its parish, and on Saturday (November 5th) some of the volunteers gathered for a training session. They learnt what to look out for and how to annotate their findings on individual maps of each path. This information will be fed to Cornwall Council with the aim of improving our network. One volunteer commented “It feels good to be involved in such a positive and interesting project, and I’ll never look a a footpath in the same way again!” The survey is the idea of former Paths Officer, Pete Jarman, and is being co-ordinated by Councillor Tamsyn Williams with support from Toby Lowe, Countryside Officer at Cornwall Council. If you would like to be involved, please contact the town clerk (01736) 797840 or email:stivestowncouncil@gmail.com
