It is an immense privilege to be Mayor of St. Ives and when I was elected in May, it was with much pride and honour that I took on the role. My Consort, Terry, and I vowed that we would do all that we could to promote St. Ives and support the residents and traders of the town and I hope you feel that this is what we have been doing.
We have entered a new era with the demise of the District Councils and Cornwall Council coming into being. I believe this first year is vital in finding out where the town and parish councils fit into this new scenario. As a Council, we are looking to try to keep St. Ives the very special place that I feel that it is. St. Ives has always been the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of Penwith and now we want to make it the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of Cornwall.
