History was made and celebrated at St Uny Church Lelant (circa 1170 )on Sunday when Simon Major the recently appointed St Ives Town Council Mace Bearer (1st left) took up his civic duties for the first time alongside his father Alan Major (2nd right). This is the first time it is believed in the history of the Town Council that father and son have stood together as Mace Bearers.
The occasion to escort St Ives Town Mayor Councillor Yvonne Watson and her consort Terry Watson (2nd & 3rd left) along with Deputy Mayor Councillor Joan Tanner and her husband John (3rd and 1st right) for the annual Feast Celebrations. Also pictured is the Vicar of St Uny Reverend John Holland who met the civic party at the main door prior to the service which was followed by the traditional pasty lunch.
